The Pullathon

at RailsConf 2012

What?

The Pullathon is an Open Source Hackathon focused on making community contributions. During the 4 hour event, we'll log attendees and track submitted pull requests made.

Not sure what to work on, check out Bug Roulette and find issues to work on repos you follow! Big shout out to Nilesh Trivedi for setting up this app!

When?

Monday April 23rd, 2012. We'll be opening up the session at 6:00PM and the main event will run until 10:00PM. That means you'll probably miss a dinner... or maybe even a drinkup! Well that makes us feel awful, so we'll have some food and (non-alcoholic) beverages for you to enjoy while you get your hack on!

Where?

The Pullathon takes place in the BohConf suites at the Austin Hilton , on the fourth floor.

How?

You can work on anything you like during the hackathon, just make sure it results in a pull request! Yep, that means you have to work on someone else's library, but isn't that the best part of making community contributions?

As a bonus, if you get stuck on something or just want to hack with some righteous folks, Rocketeers will make themselves available to pair on your contributions with you throughout the event.

Why?

For Open Source, of course! But also, at the end of the event, you'll be able to vote on your peers' pull requests. Prizes will be awarded for the top 3 entries as follows:

  1. 1st place: a new iPad
  2. 2nd place: $200 Apple gift card
  3. 3rd place: $100 Apple gift card

Come out and get your hack on, contribute to the community, and maybe win an iPad!
